Tron Electrical & Automation handles the electrical side of backup power across Toronto and the GTA — generator connections, transfer equipment, backup circuits, standby generator electrical, portable generator connection systems, and the electrical load assessment that sizes all of it correctly.
Services: Generac • Kohler • Cummins • Briggs & Stratton • ATS install • Load upgrades • Commercial backup
Response Within 1 Hour. Premium Service.
A manual switch is cheaper and works fine if someone's usually home to flip it. An ATS switches automatically within seconds, which matters most for sump pumps, medical equipment, or when you travel. We'll recommend based on your actual risk, not upsell you.
We can wire almost any generator you've purchased, but we'll still do a load calculation and ATS sizing check first — installing a mismatched transfer switch is a common cause of failed backup power. We'll quote it honestly based on what your unit actually needs.
That's why we load-test and commission every system before we leave — simulating a utility outage to confirm the ATS switches over correctly. We don't consider the job done until we've proven it works under real conditions.

Sized, wired, and permitted for real-world critical loads.

ATS commissioned and load-tested before we leave.

Keep lights, sump pumps, and equipment running through any outage.

A poorly wired generator or undersized transfer switch can fail exactly when you need it — during a storm outage, at 2am, with a freezer full of food or medical equipment running.
Tron Electrical has wired standby and portable generator systems across the GTA since 1972 — properly sized, permitted, and commissioned with a real load test, not a rushed install.
Full-service load upgrades included. If your panel needs more capacity to run generator, EV, and HVAC loads together, we handle that in the same project.
Whole-home and commercial standby generator hookups — Generac, Kohler, Cummins, Briggs & Stratton and more.
Seamless ATS installation that detects utility loss and switches to generator power within seconds.
Code-compliant manual transfer switches for portable generators — safe, simple, no backfeeding.
Main panel and service upgrades to support generator capacity and modern household or facility loads.
Natural gas, propane and diesel standby systems for homes — clean conduit, weatherproof enclosures.
Three-phase generator wiring, load shed panels, and ATS systems up to 800A for businesses and facilities.
We handle the electrical connection between the generator and the building: the generator feed and conductors, conduit and routing, disconnects, grounding and bonding, control wiring, and battery charger and block heater circuits. We wire units from the manufacturers commonly installed across the GTA and work alongside the gas fitter and the equipment supplier so the commissioning happens on schedule.
Transfer equipment is what makes backup power safe. We install automatic and manual transfer switches, service-entrance rated transfer equipment, and interlock arrangements, then test the transfer under load in both directions so the changeover works when the outage is real. Transfer equipment is also what prevents backfeeding the utility — the single most dangerous mistake in generator installations.
Whole-building backup is not always the right answer. Where it is not, we build an essential-loads arrangement: heating and cooling controls, sump and sewage pumps, refrigeration, well pumps, medical equipment, lighting, internet and security, and selected receptacle circuits — separated onto backup distribution so the generator carries what actually matters.
Permanently installed standby systems for homes, condominiums, offices and commercial properties: pad and mounting coordination, feeders and distribution, automatic transfer, monitoring, and the ESA permit and inspection. We also service and re-commission existing standby installations that were never tested properly or have stopped transferring.
For homeowners using a portable generator, we install a proper connection system — an inlet box, a transfer switch or interlocked breaker, and a dedicated backup panel — so the generator can be connected safely with a cord instead of through extension cords or, worse, a suicide cord into a receptacle.
Before anything is ordered, we assess the electrical load: what the building draws, what needs to stay running, starting loads on motors and compressors, and how that maps onto generator size and transfer equipment rating. Undersized systems trip and overheat; oversized systems cost more than they need to. Where the existing service also needs work, we handle that in the same project.
