Power bars only protect what's plugged into them. A whole-home surge protector at your panel shields your furnace, HVAC, water heater, and every hardwired circuit that power bars can't touch.
Battery-only alarms aren't interconnected, so a fire in the basement might not wake someone upstairs in time. Hardwired interconnected alarms sound throughout the entire home the moment one detects smoke or CO.
In most homes we can run wiring through attics, basements, and wall cavities with minimal disruption, and we patch and clean up any access points we do need to use.

Every hardwired circuit shielded from spikes and lightning damage.

Every alarm sounds together, meeting Ontario Building Code.

Neat installation with full documentation for insurance.

A power surge can silently fry your fridge, HVAC control board, and every smart device in your home. A missing or outdated smoke alarm can cost lives. Both are preventable with the right installation.
Tron Electrical has installed panel-mounted surge suppressors and hardwired interconnected alarm systems across the GTA for decades — always to code, always ESA permitted.
One visit covers both. Most homeowners bundle surge protection and alarm upgrades into a single appointment for one trip charge.
Panel-mounted surge suppression that shields every hardwired circuit from spikes and lightning strikes.
Dedicated surge protection for sensitive equipment like home theatres, servers, and smart panels.
Interconnected smoke detectors on every level and outside sleeping areas, per Ontario code.
CO alarms placed near bedrooms and fuel-burning appliances, hardwired with battery backup.
Upgrade battery-only or missing alarms to hardwired, interconnected systems without wall damage.
Scheduled testing and end-of-life alarm replacement so your system stays reliable.
Whole-home surge protection is a surge protective device installed at the electrical panel, wired directly to the main bus on its own breaker. It clamps the voltage of a surge entering the house on the service conductors before that surge reaches branch circuits — which a plug-in power bar, sitting downstream at one outlet, cannot do.
We install panel-mounted protection during panel replacements and service upgrades, and as a standalone visit on existing panels with available breaker space.
Surges come from outside and from inside the house. Externally: lightning in the area, utility switching, downed lines, and the moment power is restored after an outage. Internally: large motors and compressors starting and stopping — air conditioners, heat pumps, pool pumps, well pumps and elevators — which produce repeated smaller surges that degrade equipment over years rather than destroying it in one event.
Nearly everything expensive in a modern home now contains a circuit board: furnace and heat pump controls, air conditioning boards, induction ranges, refrigerators, washers and dryers, televisions, computers, audio and networking equipment. A single surge can take out a control board and leave the appliance intact but unusable, and that repair often costs more than protecting the whole panel.
Smart-home systems and EV charging equipment are the two loads most worth protecting. Lighting control processors, keypads, dimming modules, shade controllers, network equipment and EV charging equipment are all connected to the electrical system permanently and all contain sensitive electronics. We install surge protection as standard practice on lighting control and EV projects.
