EV Charger and Load-Capacity Assessment
An EV charger panel upgrade is not always necessary. Homeowners can request an hourly electricity-consumption report from their Hydro utility. We review this information with an electrical load calculation to determine whether:
- the existing 100A electrical service has sufficient capacity;
- an EV energy-management system can avoid a service upgrade; or
- a full 100 amp to 200 amp panel upgrade is required.
A subpanel adds breaker space but does not increase the total electrical capacity available to the home.
We also replace outdated fuse panels, Federal Pioneer and Stab-Lok electrical panels, and coordinate Toronto Hydro disconnect and reconnect requirements, ESA permits and inspections.
